Santa Catalina Island known as the “islita” it’s a beautiful island with a white sand beach, right across from the town of Santa Catalina. You can venture out to the island by boat, kayak, SUP or swimming for the more adventurous haha.
It’s only 5 minutes by boat from the town beach. The boat ride is about $30 round trip. You just have to arrange with the boat driver pick-up/drop-off time.

You can also rent kayaks right on the beach. The cost is about $30 for double kayaks and $20 for the single ones. The time to the island is between 20-35 minutes depending on
how fast you can paddle. Kayaking is one of the easiest and most enjoyable things to do while visiting Santa Catalina.
You can also depart from our hotel to visit the island. We have kayaks and SUPs for the use of our guests, complimentary. If you’re visiting the island departing from our hotel please make sure to check the tides with Front Desk as you won’t be able to leave from the hotel or come back in with low tide or if the tide is too low.

Once you get to the island, you can have beach time…take sun, have a picnic, swim, read a book or just relax, but there is one thing you can’t miss out on…hiking the recently inaugurated trail. The new trail is a nice way to explore the island. It has a low level of difficulty. It has two amazing lookout points, where you can see Santa Catalina and Coiba!! The hike time of the whole trail will depend on how fast you walk and if you stop along the trail, but we can say it’s about 40 mins more or less. We recommend you take running shoes, but you can easily walk in flip flops as well. Bring some water, especially if you have kids with you.
There is local cellphone reception on the island
